There are many famous men that where freemasons. For instance John A. MacDonald the first Canadian Prime Minister was a Mason.

Robert Burns  Scottish poet was born January 25, 1759 joined Saint David's Lodge No. 2174, Tarbolton in 1781 is considered the poet laureate for Scotland

Meetings used to be held during the full moon. this was practical because it provided the best visibility when traveling.

You must ask a mason to become one. No one will select you. All freemason join of there own freewill.

The Hospital For Sick Children in Toronto which is currently a world class facility helping children around the world was founded by Ontario Freemason's Notability M. W. Bro. John Ross Robertson who donated much of his time and money. 

There are 3 degree in freemasonry. Entered Apprentice Mason, Fellow Craft and Master Mason. All other "degrees" are commentary on these 3 degrees. A 33° degree mason in the Scottish Rite has the same rights and privileges as a Master Mason.

Freemasonry is not a religion, nor is it a substitute for religion. It demands of its members a belief in a Supreme Being but provides no system of faith of its own.
